Select the right Java version for your Minecraft server using the Startup Parameters page, with a version table and tips for plugin and mod compatibility.
On April 4th 2022 we rolled out our Java Version Startup Parameter to all non-proxy Minecraft servers. This allows you to select the version of java your server runs using a drop down located on the Configuration → Startup Parameters page. In order to use the selector, all you need to do is navigate to the Startup Parameters page and select the Java Version you need from the drop down. After selecting it, you just need to start or restart you server to see the changes made to your container.
When selecting a Java Version, refer to the table found on the right to find the correct version of Java for the version of Minecraft you’re running.
Some plugins/mods may require that you use a newer version of Java, so don’t be worried if, for example, your server asks that you use Java 17 on a 1.16.5 server.
