Enshrouded has no official mod support yet, so server mods run through a community mod loader. Install the loader, stop the server, drop the mod files into the mods directory, and start it back up.

Quick answer

  • You need a mod loader first. Shroudtopia and EML are the two that work on dedicated servers. The loader creates the mods directory that everything else goes into.
  • Where mods come from: Nexus Mods is the primary source. Common categories are QoL tweaks (stack sizes, inventory management), building enhancements, and gameplay changes.
  • Where the files go: the mods directory on your server, uploaded with the server stopped.
  • Server-side or both: some mods work for everyone once installed on the server, others also need installing on each player’s client. The mod’s description page says which. Client-side installs use the same files, dropped into the player’s local Enshrouded game directory.

Installing mods

  1. Install a mod loader (Shroudtopia or EML) following the instructions on its download page, then download the mods you want from Nexus Mods
  2. Stop your server
  3. Upload the mod files to the mods directory (created by the mod loader) using SFTP or the File Manager
  4. Start your server

Check each mod’s description page before you start. Some need extra configuration beyond dropping the files in.

Removing mods

  1. Stop your server
  2. Navigate to the mods directory in the File Manager
  3. Delete the files for the mod you want to remove
  4. Start your server
