Learn about BungeeCord and Waterfall proxy setup, plugin compatibility, configuration tips, and securing your Minecraft server network with BungeeGuard.

Last updated: July 16, 2025

BungeeCord, commonly referred to as Bungee, is a Proxy software for Minecraft developed by the Spigot Team and was forked into the now deprecated Waterfall project.
BungeeCord is still under active development, and can be downloaded from it’s Jenkins page.

Plugins

Plugins for Spigot/Paper won’t work on BungeeCord, but you can still use your Spigot/Paper plugins on your backend servers. For plugins to run on your BungeeCord proxy, you can check the following locations:

Configuration

Spigot offers up-to-date documentation on configuring a BungeeCord proxy, which you can find in their Post-Installation advice and in their Configuration Guide.
The following tips may help you navigate the setup.

  • You can Download BungeeCord from here and upload it to your server using SFTP, then update the Server Jar File Startup Parameter.
  • You can find your server’s IP and and Port using the Allocations Tab
  • You’ll need to use BungeeGuard for securing your backend servers as we don’t offer firewalls.

Securing

We don’t offer IP whitelisting or firewalls for our game hosting packages, so the best way to secure your Minecraft server network is by using a plugin like BungeeGuard, or moving to Velocity which has a similar protocol to BungeeGuard built in.
