Upload mods to your Hytale server using the File Manager or SFTP for files over 100MB.

Last updated: January 13, 2025

Add mods to your Hytale server by uploading .jar files to the mods/ folder and restarting.

Upload Mods via File Manager

For mod files under 100MB, the built-in File Manager is the quickest option.

  1. Stop your server from the console or by clicking Stop in the Game Panel
  2. Go to FilesFile Manager
  3. Open the mods/ folder (it’s in the root directory)
  4. Click Upload and select your .jar file(s)
  5. Start your server

Your mods will load automatically on startup.

Upload Large Mods via SFTP

The web File Manager has a 100MB upload limit. For larger files, use SFTP instead.

  1. Stop your server
  2. Connect to your server via SFTP using the credentials in your Game Panel
  3. Navigate to the mods/ folder
  4. Upload your .jar file(s)
  5. Start your server

See our SFTP guide for detailed connection instructions.

Verify Mods Loaded

After restarting, check that your mods loaded correctly:

  1. Go to the Console in your Game Panel
  2. Look for messages indicating your mod initialized
  3. If you see errors, check that you uploaded the correct .jar file and that it’s compatible with your server version
