Add mods to your Hytale server by uploading .jar files to the mods/ folder and restarting.
Upload Mods via File Manager
For mod files under 100MB, the built-in File Manager is the quickest option.
- Stop your server from the console or by clicking Stop in the Game Panel
- Go to Files → File Manager
- Open the
mods/folder (it’s in the root directory) - Click Upload and select your
.jarfile(s) - Start your server
Your mods will load automatically on startup.
Upload Large Mods via SFTP
The web File Manager has a 100MB upload limit. For larger files, use SFTP instead.
- Stop your server
- Connect to your server via SFTP using the credentials in your Game Panel
- Navigate to the
mods/folder - Upload your
.jarfile(s) - Start your server
See our SFTP guide for detailed connection instructions.
Verify Mods Loaded
After restarting, check that your mods loaded correctly:
- Go to the Console in your Game Panel
- Look for messages indicating your mod initialized
- If you see errors, check that you uploaded the correct
.jarfile and that it’s compatible with your server version
